Spoke Art is pleased to present 12 x 12, a dynamic group exhibition featuring over 60 local and international artists working in a 12 x 12 format. We challenged some of our favorite artists to work within a 12 x 12 inch space and left the rest up to them. The result is a stunning display of the endless possibilities contained within the bounds of the composition.

Working in a variety of media including painting, embroidery, sculpture and beyond, each artist presents their unique style while adhering to the size parameters. Figures, landscapes and abstract forms dwell in each piece, inviting the viewer into the realm contained in each work. 

Please join us as we take our 12 x 12 exhibition on the road, opening Friday, September 28th, with an opening night reception from 6pm - 10pm at Vertical Gallery in Chicago, IL.

Modern Humans may not have learned much from History, but we can do our best to catch the Rebellious Ingenuity of some of its most interesting and Revolutionary Artists.  This show is a group homage to the original ‘Fuck It’ Art Movement, please join us. Shaolin: Into the 36 Chambers is a group exhibition curated by local artist Jahtiek Long. Located in the Commons Galleries of the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art, this exhibit pays homage to, explores, and celebrates Staten Island’s culture and cultural identity. Playing on the name given to Staten Island by the Wu-Tang Clan, Shaolin highlights the work of more than 15 artists from all corners of the borough, including:

Black Diamond Gallery is pleased to announce All In a group exhibition that features ten breakout artists – Raul Barquet, Herbert Baglione, John Feli Arnold III, Ogulcan Kush, Travis Bedel, Erik Otto, Boris Ipsum, Emily Weiskopf, Jamie Martinez and Sarah Allen Eagen – who push the limits of their respective media in extraordinary ways. All In is a symbolic exhibition that draws comparisons between the way each artist employs unique techniques to explore what it means to be “all in” or fully committed to one’s artistic practice in contemporary society. South St. Gallery will host an opening reception on November 16th at 392 South 5th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211 from 7:30 to 10:30 pm.

There are moments in life when a person is ready to be “all in”: it is a conscious decision to put everything on the line. The artists featured in this exhibition are from around the world – Brazil, Germany, Columbia, Turkey, Canada and the United States – and each have faced unique challenges in pursuing their passions. From moving across the country with nothing but a few belongings, and no job to speak of; to leaving well-paying jobs in order to give more to their art; the artists included in this exhibition have faced great personal challenges that took many forms, testing their resilience and devotion repeatedly in order to pursue their passion for art. It is the conscious choice to pursue creativity that makes these artists remarkable. Through the artists’ styles and mediums may be varied, the artists exhibiting share a passion that triumphs and drives them to create. They have chosen to live all in.

All In assembles 24 works of art in various media: The works on view range in scale, media, and approach, and include painting, collage, mixed media and photography on silk. By exhibiting the works together in the same space, a visual language is built that transcends specific mediums or one conceptual agenda. Ultimately this exhibition explores what it means to be an artist in contemporary society.
